Battle of Kororareka marked
11 March, 1845 the Battle of Kororareka marked the start of the NZ Land wars.
The story of this historic day is being interpreted by the Russell Theatre Group in a brief performance on Saturday 10, March at 4 p.m at the DOC Amphitheatre.
You will hear those who were involved in or around the battle tell the story of that day from their own points of view. From the Bishop to Maori warriors, to the children, townspeople, British sailors and whalers who inhabited Kororareka, you will witness our history of that day come alive.
Everyone is invited to this performance to help Russell commemorate The Battle of Kororareka.
